Our property is part of the original Housatonic Knolls neighborhood that includes the waterfront property on Lake Lillinonah.

HKRA is our 2.3-acre waterfront property, which is in your deed as “Reserved for use as a recreational area”. The location is adjacent to the Town of Newtown Boat Launch, (located at the end of Hanover Road) and includes land between Lake Lillinonah and Scenic View Drive.

During the summer months temporary bathroom facilities are arranged. The beach is only few minutes away from most members’ homes, (or within walking distance); - a cool dip in the lake is a welcome refresher in the summer months.

Cooking grills are set up, (courtesy of the association), while everyone brings their own food to cook. Additionally, the beach and picnic facilities are open to members and their guests on a daily basis for swimming, boating, picnicking and other activities.

The Housatonic Knolls Recreational Association was formed in 1971, for the purpose of managing this lakefront property. Over time, many improvements have been made. We plan to continue to make further improvements in the future.

The lakefront property is an asset to all property owners in the neighborhood with deeded rights to it. It is in everyone’s interest to continue it’s maintenance and reap its benefits. Your support and involvement is warmly welcomed.

Membership is strictly voluntary, membership fees are kept to a minimum and used to maintain the property, pay the annual property taxes and permit the association to have a voice in issues such as town projects that impact our neighborhood and various uses of Lake Lillinonah.
